Savannah Curbside Recycling
We care about encouraging a cleaner environment and as such, we are increasing our efforts to make recycling in your area easier and more convenient. ABC Waste proudly provides Curbside Recycling to neighborhoods throughout Savannah. We provide one 96 gallon cart for single-stream recycling, which means the members of your household do not have to separate any of our recyclable materials. The Single Stream Method has been proven to increase the quantity of recycled goods, which decreases the impact on our landfills.
Follow these simple guidelines to recycle responsibly:
Know what goes in the recycling bin

First and foremost, do not bag your recyclables. The items should be loose in your cart. Make sure you know what items can be recycled and what items belong in the trash. Knowing these guidelines and implementing them every day will help Savannah recycle more efficiently. We accept cardboard, paper, metals, tin, aluminum cans, and plastics 1 & 2.
Plastic 1 : PET or PETE (polyethylene terephthalate)
Examples – Mouthwash, water, peanut butter containers, salad and vegetable oil containers, and food jars.
Please note – they need to be emptied, and rinsed.
Plastic 2 : HDPE (high density polyethylene)
Examples – Milk jugs, juice bottles, bleach, detergent, household cleaner bottles, oil bottles, shampoo bottles, butter and yogurt tubs.
Please note – they need to be emptied, and rinsed.
Tin, steel, and bi-metal used food cans (emptied of food residue and rinsed).
Aluminum beverage cans (rinsed)
Paper items such as newspapers and inserts, junk mail, magazines, catalogs, phone books, paperback books, office paper, white and colored paper
Please note – wet paper products will not be accepted and are considered as contamination.
We DO NOT accept the following items
(but not limited to)
- Styrofoam containers or packaging
- Clothing, bedding
- Furniture, plastic chairs
- Toys, electronics
- Yard waste or clippings
- Paint cans
- Aluminum foil
- Plastic bags
- Aerosol cans
- Pizza Boxes
Make sure that all items in your recycling are empty, clean, and dry. Keep all recyclables free of food and liquid. This will also help combat unsightly bugs and bacteria during the warmer months. One contaminated item has the ability to compromise an entire truck load of recyclable materials.
Do not bag your Residential Recycling
Keep all items loose in your cart.
By working together, we can make sure recyclable materials don’t end up in our ocean, on our islands, or in our landfills. Every time you make the conscious effort to recycle, you are giving that item the chance to serve a new purpose. Now more than ever it’s important that we work together to make sure only the right items, free from contamination, make their way into your recycling cart each week. Always reuse when possible, and when your item has served its purpose make sure that it is recycled responsibly.
