At ABC Waste giving back and contributing to the community that supports our business has always been of high value. We support and seek out initiatives to give back all throughout the year. Our team is on an endless pursuit to come up with different ways to support our community and it’s residents whether that be monetary contributions, community involvement, environmental efforts and so much more. Our goal is simple – make a difference.
A local Savannah brotherhood called the Alee Shriners is a very important cause to ABC Waste. The group is part of an even bigger effort; Shriners International. They are a Masonic society that was established back in 1870. Shriners International describes itself as a fraternity based on fun, fellowship, and the Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief, and truth. There are approximately 350,000 members from nearly 200 temples, or chapters, across 40 countries. They built on the idea that they are masons first, and became Shriners in the brotherhood in search of more internal growth and purpose. Shriners are known for their compassion for others and for being active participants in their communities. They strive to help make the world a better place. Their mission is simple and their heartfelt stories are defined by a shared pursuit of bettering themselves and making the world a better place.
Giving back to the community
Within a cause that is close to Charles’ heart, he was able to give back to this brotherhood. In January of 2020, he took his ABC Waste team and spent an entire Sunday laying and grading out 30 tons of crush and run gravel at the Alee Shriner Temple in Savannah. The Temple is used for many different kinds of events across the community. It holds a fond place in many hearts having hosted anything from weddings, and haunted houses, to baby showers and BBQs. In always trying to help everyone around them, the driveway to their Temple had taken a beating over the years but it went unnoticed. That is, until Charles saw an opportunity to utilize his own talents and resources to reciprocate the selfless work of the Alee Shriners. The hard work he and his team put in is just one of the many acts of service that ABC Waste is proud to be able to provide, all thanks to the support of the Savannah community.
